Question

I had primary rhinoplasty approx 5 years ago and I am unhappy with the result as it really doesn't look that different from my original nose.

I see from your results you do fantastic work with people with thicker skin. I was told by my original surgeon that there was nothing that can be done to narrow my tip or get a better definition. I am Caucasian and do not have excessively thick skin.

The photo gallery on your site shows people with thicker skin than mine get great results. Can I ask, with the techniques you use, can I in fact get a better definition and narrower tip even though I have thicker skin?

Answer

There are several elements that contribute to increased definition for the tip of the nose in situations where the nasal tip skin is thicker, and they involve reshaping of the support framework, thinning of the nasal tip skin which has to be limited to maintain blood supply, and sometimes treatment for the swelling. This is primarily in situations where the nose is also reduced.

The alternative is represented by a stronger support in the tip including slight enhancement in projection, which stretches somewhat the skin at the tip of the nose.

It would be possible to evaluate in the consultation what it is you would like to achieve, and based on that to establish a treatment plan.

Finally, it is fair to say that when the soft tissues at the tip of the nose are thicker, it is not technically possible to achieve the same level of definition as when the soft tissues that the tip of the nose are thinner.
