Question

I have a saddle nose. I had rhinoplasty when I was 16 and then at 24 where I had cartlidge put in to reshape it. Over time it has now become deformed again/cartilage has come out. I am now 35 and want to do the procedure again or try a new procedure. Can you give me some advice? Is it worth it? Have any new techniques been developed to help?

Answer

I suspect it is still a matter of using cartilage graft, but more likely from the rib for support and reshaping of the framework of the nose.

It would be beneficial to discuss in a consultation to understand more clearly what was done in the first two operations, and whether ear cartilage was used at the time.

It is also important to understand if the saddle nose occurred after an injury, or whether it was developmental.

There are some additional treatment options involving bone grafting or other types of implants, all with their own limitations.
