I have puffy under eyes at the top of cheek.

I have had 3 days of excessive crying, stress and lack of sleep. Suddenly, overnight I have puffy under eyes (at the top of cheek).

I have read that they are called malar bags. Are these caused temporarily due to stress and will they eventually subside?

The rapid onset of the malar bags suggests that they can be controlled more readily, but may represent a long-term problem later in life.

As an immediate approach to improving them, sleeping with a couple of pillows, cold compresses and generally some rest should help.

The exact mechanism why this problem happens is not fully understood, but it is related to water retention in the area.
