Question

I'm on 8 month post op, I had a surgery on my nose tip to narrow it and make smaller, although it slightly starts to appear slimmer from the front, from the profile view it still appears about the same size, and it's still hard and swollen. Is it normal after this long time? I also heard that middle eastern people (what I am) tend to heal slower, is it true?

Answer

8 months following the surgery I would expect the swelling to have settled more significantly, but it would be fair to say that some people do take longer.

I usually recommend to my patients to use progressive pressure from the sides as well as above and below the nasal tip to help reduce the swelling. You would need to verify with your surgeon that he is happy for you to use this protocol.

There is also the option of using steroid injections to accelerate resorption of the scar tissue and reduction of the swelling.
