The septum correction could interfere with the possibility of having a rhinoplasty in the future?

Your questions answered by our surgeon, Lucian Ion, FRCS(Plast)

Question

Next year I will have an intervention with the NHS to correct my septum and breathing problems. I wonder if this could interfere with the possibility of having a rhinoplasty in the future.

Answer

Surgery that corrects septal deviation and breathing problems can be carried out in a number of ways. Removal of cartilage from the central part of the septum may have repercussions on the type of surgery that can be subsequently carried out for nose reshaping.

In some instances, the surgeon that carries out the intervention for nasal breathing may be able to address also some of your aesthetic concerns if not all of them, and you may want to discuss it prior to your surgery.

On the other hand, surgery for reshaping the nose often incorporates an element of correction for the nasal airway.
