I am considering rhinoplasty but I never had any kind of surgery before, I have some reservations. Is there much/long-lasting swelling after the operation?

With regards to the post-operative recovery, the swelling of the nose depends very much on the degree of change in the characteristics of the soft tissues around the nasal tip. Thicker nasal tip tissue usually takes longer to settle down, whereas is thinner nasal tip skin progresses faster.

Typically, it takes 2 weeks for return to work and socialising, but this does not mean that the swelling is completely settled at that stage. It means that it is settled enough to create the impression of a relatively normal nose, which will continue to settle down in the subsequent months. Occasionally, the bruising may take longer to settle.
