I am HIV positive and would like to know which are the possible risks for a rhinoplasty?

Your questions answered by our surgeon, Lucian Ion, FRCS(Plast)

Question

I am HIV positive and would like to know which are the possible risks and what kind of exams do I need for a rhinoplasty?

Answer

You can find some more information regarding the risks related to rhinoplasty on my website at: http://www.allaboutcosmeticsurgery.co.uk/rhinoplasty/risks

In the context of HIV that is well controlled on medication, the risks are relatively similar to other patients, with the possible exception of bleeding, that may be more significant when on HAART.

The exams required are related to making sure that your CD4 count is good and the viral load is undetectable, as well as tests associated with other conditions that may be part of your medical history.
