I would like to know if you can do anything about asymmetrical nostrils.

Your questions answered by our surgeon, Lucian Ion, FRCS(Plast)

Question

I would like to know if you can do anything about asymmetrical nostrils. This is really affecting my life. I get bullied by my own family because of this issue. I would really appreciate it if there's anyway you can help me. My right nostril is very high compared to my left nostril and I also have a hanging columella on the left side of my nose.

Answer

In general terms, it is possible to be reshaped both the nostrils and the columella to reduce its visibility from the side.

Cartilage grafts can change the shape of the nostrils as well as the columella. It would be necessary to evaluate in consultation the degree of change that is necessary.

It would be fair to say that complete symmetry of the nostrils is never achievable, but that it is possible to bring the level of asymmetry to a more comfortable zone.
