Question

I am a 26 year old male. Throughout my life I have been told I look like I have down syndrome. I am sure it is because my lack of cheekbones.

I was wondering, do cheekbone implants also define your jawline a little? Are most people pleased with their decisions?

Answer

With adequate preparation, malar implants, or cheekbone implants are associated with good satisfaction rate.

My approach when it comes to facial sculpting is to use 3-D imaging and computer simulation to evaluate the facial shape and allow the patient to design the degree of reshaping that they want to achieve.

Based on the plan for shape changes, it is possible to produce an intervention or a combination of interventions that is more likely to achieve results corresponding to the plans.

As a rule, cheekbone implants do not specifically change the definition of the jawline, but they contribute to create a shadow in the mid-cheek area, because of the difference in projection between the cheekbone and the mid-cheek.
