Questions & Answers The Surgical Experience About Anaesthesia

Since I was 11 I have had extreme veins and a little bit of black bags under my eyes.

I am only 24 years old and since I was 11 years old I have had extreme veins under my eyes and a little bit of black bags under my eyes.

I have lived with this for so long and it has knocked my confidence when people mention what is that under his eyes. I don't drink, I don't do drugs so why have I got these?

Could you tell me if I could have my eye bags lifted and veins taken out to make my eyes look like a 24 year old not a 70 year old.

Also how much it would cost me to have this procedure done, I am a bridge engineer so I can save the money necessary for this treatment, I look forward to your answer.

As you have described, there are 2 issues which require individual treatments.

The lower eyelid bags in someone as young as you suggest an underdevelopment of the lower orbital rim, and therefore insufficient support to the lower eyelids. The fatty tissue from the orbit bulges out and appears like eyelid bags, facilitated by the volume deficiency below it. The darker circles under the eyes are in part related to shadows forming in the area and in part related to translucency of the very thin skin.

The alternatives for treatment include:

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty with re-draping of the orbital fatty tissue over the rim of the bone to create continuity between the lower eyelid and the cheek volumes.

Fat transfer to the cheek prominence and tear trough to create volume continuity with the lower eyelid and reduce its visibility. It also has the ability to correct a deficiency of the volume of the cheek.

Injectable fillers to the circles under the eyes to reduce the contrast and their visibility

In essence, an evaluation of the global contours using 3-D imaging and simulation allows you to determine your preferred course of action.

Visibility of the veins of the lower eyelids has relatively poor treatment options, and as far as I am aware the best approach is to target perhaps one or 2 veins on each side ( typically the ones situated closer to the outer corner of the eye which tend to be more obvious ) and to tie them off with very fine stitches so that they become blocked and no longer show under the skin. This however involves tiny scars at each end of the segment of vein treated, for access through the skin.
